Bomberman Quest "game end glitch" in 32.130

Game objectives

  • Best ending
  • Major skip glitch
  • Final boss skip glitch
  • Heavy glitch abuse

Comments

  • This TAS is played on Gambatte core with GBA mode enabled. This ensures that the emulation has more accurate timing, with a frame rate of 59.7275006 which gives 32.13 as the final time, while GBC mode has a frame rate 61.601719812616295. We preferred to go the GBA mode for the sake of accuracy.
  • So this run improves the [3458M|current run] by ThunderAxe31 where instead of doing some ''quests'' to warp to the ending, you can use start menu continuously to push Bomberman outside of the screen but without triggering screen scroll, kinda like the glitch in Zelda for the NES. This allows to go straight to the ending, finishing the game in less than 33 seconds.
  • Right after I finished and submitted this run, it came to my knowledge that there is a new run with a faster route found by tutelarfiber7. It was 12 seconds faster. This route consists of visiting the library on the next screen and go out of bounds from there. I contacted the author about it and he showed another strat that can save even more called Corner Boost, where you can boost your speed for couple frames by facing the corner direction and holding diagonal position. This saved a lot of frames. He did apply it in another run, however I did optimize it further, achieving 807 frames improvement in total. (44.963 -> 32.130 seconds). In GBC mode, this would be a 821 frames improvement instead.

Special thanks

  • tutelarfiber7: For his knowledge in this game. He did put good effort in this game and found pretty much most of the interesting stuff in this run
  • RTA community for the continuous discoveries in this game in general
  • You for watching :)
