This a a resubmission of 10091S (TASVideos submission), which I just cancelled. The routing is much different and improvements are drastic enough to warrant a different submission. In this new movie I avoid a major execution mistake in the previous one and smartly collect coins during the stages to buy the axe earlier and to avoid losing time collecting loot in the boss fight.

Introduction

Yet Another oldie but goodie from the Amiga/DOS collection. I liked this game very much back then due to its amazing graphics and sounds. Unfortunately, it was a rather difficult to me as a young lad. Not anymore, with the power of TAS.

The game consists of a series of 12 stages, 4 of which being boss fights. Non-boss stages are completed by traversing a series of totem-doors that open with collectable keys. In between, you rescue a set of stone monks, which ascend to the skies when you break their rocky cages.

My strategy here is to go as fast as possible, trying to get hit the least possible. Also trying to not fire the weapons from a standstill (slow), but rather mostly from jump/duck positions. Collecting items and opening chests is also rather slow, so I just do it when it's absolutely justified (right after a jump, or during a monk rescue).

In terms of money, throughout the first few levels I collect enough money to buy the axe (best weapon as it gives you vertical reach), once to get it, a second time to improve it to level 2 (power x2). I buy the axe once again to re-improve it to level 2 after it is degraded due to the mandatory death due to unavoidable takebacks to collect the eye key.

I derived a lot of inspiration from the Genesis RTA WR and their guides. Especially the fact that the axe is the most preferable weapon, and; as it turns out, falling through a pit while freeing the last monk allows you to end the level faster.

Enjoy!

ROM

I wasn't able to find an uncracked version of the game, so I picked one of the available ADF files and tried to skip the crack screen as fast as possible.
